My husband is considering deleting his Facebook account. Why? Because he says it takes up too much of his Internet time. Between checking updates and playing a few games, he will spend hours a day on Facebook. He says he misses when he spent his time on the Internet going to actual websites.
Now my first reaction was just take a break from it. You don’t have to play the games and you can read your daily feed once a day. But his gaming personality will not let him do that. He just can’t let things go. I really don’t think he will delete his account since we use Facebook to keep in contact with friends and family. And we do enjoy playing games together – we send each other items we need to complete tasks.
To ‘see’ the Internet in a certain amount of time, add those frequently-visited websites to an RSS reader. Most websites we visit these days are blogs in some shape or fashion – so they have an RSS feed. This makes surfing the net a lot easier. Still, I get the desire to actually visit websites.
Facebook does take up a lot of my free Internet time. It’s a distraction – but if it wasn’t Facebook distracting me, then it would be something else. At least Facebook keeps me at the computer – where I may actually get some work done.
